Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simmons of Braceville were honored during a 60th anniversary celebration at The Covered Bridge Inn in Newton Falls on Nov. 20, 2011.
The event was hosted by the couple's six children, Irene Hardesty, Jean Messenger, Lori Meyer, Kirk Simmons, Mark Simmons and Bruce Simmons. They also have 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Harold Simmons and the former Geraldine Thompson were married on Dec. 7, 1951.

Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local 66. He was also active in the Braceville Lions Club and Braceville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Simmons participated in Braceville United Methodist Church activities and is a homemaker. She enjoys playing bingo.
