The Trumbull County Ohio State University Extension 4-H program is offering a 12-week (24 class-hours) safety course focusing on common farm equipment accident situations including PTOs, highway safety and more.
Based upon successful completion of the entire course, participants will earn the certification to legally operate a tractor or farm machinery on any farm.
This course is open to any youth ages 14-16 years old who will be operating a tractor of more than 20 horsepower. Any youth older than 16 who are interested in taking the course are encouraged to enroll as well.

Tractor safety courses are coming to Trumbull County
Youth younger than age 14 years are encouraged to participate, but they will not be able to participate in any driving or skills tests, nor will they receive certification. They can, however, participate in the content portion of the program.
Participants do not need to be current 4-H members.
The course will be held every Tuesday evening for 12 weeks from 68 p.m. beginning Jan. 10 and ending March 13. The class will take place at the Banner Farm in Liberty Township.
The course will cost $35, which covers the Tractor Safety Student Manual and the Trumbull 4-H activity fee.

Registration forms can also be downloaded from the Trumbull 4-H website at www.trumbull.osu.edu F 4-H Youth Development F Current Events. Registration and fees are due no later than Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 to the OSU Extension Office. These will not be collected at the first class.
