Gossip hurtful and unnecessary

November 27, 2011
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

DEAR EDITOR:

The tongue can be as sharp as a knife at times.

Many people today are wrapped up in a "gossip mill."

Do we realize the hurts when gossip magazines expose secrets about famous people? It can be Hollywood, sports or politics ... even everyday people.

I do not see how reading this or hearing it in the news is entertaining. The sinful actions of people seems to be constantly in the news.

In the political arena, many politicians' extramarital affairs have been exposed. Lives are ruined, careers are destroyed and hearts are broken all for the sake of the news. The list goes on.

I wonder, is it necessary to expose these actions to the public. Should the media be held accountable for causing stress to people's lives. It is sad to sell or relate this out to the public and destroy lives.

We all will answer for our behavior in life. Let us leave it to the judgment of the one who is the only one to judge.

Many times He will settle it with the guilty ones.

Lives are changed. Where do we think we are doing justice? Do we have the right to judge, I think not.

Can we say we are completely sinless to cast a stone?

Do we know if the true judge had not already taken care of this condition in the person's life? Do we know the truth? Are we bent to destroy lives maybe to satisfy our cause?

This problem is escalating in the political arena.

I think it needs to stop.
