Former Page One staff member Lindsay Cameron, now a junior at Ashland University, recently was named one of the Future Teacher Scholarship winners by the Journalism Education Association.

Lindsay, a 2009 Southington Chalker graduate, received a $1,000 award Sunday at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Minneapolis.

While on the Page One staff, Linday reported, drew cartoons and took photos. Lindsay was also instrumental in helping with a smooth transition when Guy Vogrin took over as adviser to the teen program in 2008. Lindsay helped keep staff production and morale high, Vogrin said, working not only with the younger staff members but also helping teach younger students during the journalism workshops at the Tribune Chronicle.

Lindsay, who also worked for the Tribune Chronicle as a news correspondent, now trains younger students for Ashland University's student newspaper. She is working on plans to connect the Ashland Times Gazette and the Ashland high school media so she can support teen journalists there.
