Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Calhoun celebrated their 50th anniversary Oct. 28, 2011, with a party hosted by their children held on Oct. 29, 2011, at the Victoria Room in Niles.
The Rev. Larry Frient attended the celebration and renewed the couple's vows while their children, Kim Calhoun of Niles and Michael (Tammy) Calhoun of Niles, stood up for them along with family and friends.
Mr. Calhoun and the former Peggy A. Morrow were married Oct. 28, 1961, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, with the Rev. Arioli officiating the ceremony.

The couple have resided in Niles their whole lives and are members of Mount Carmel Church. They also have two grandchildren.
Richard retired from Packard Electric in 1999 and Peggy retired from Trumbull Memorial Hospital in 2004. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, and Sunday family dinners at their home.
They also received recognition from President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.
