Stephen and Carol Balko celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 22, 2011, with a dinner party held at V2 Restaurant in Youngstown. The event was hosted by their three children: Stephen H. of Wellston, Kimberly (Adam) Hammonds of Howland and Kelli (Joe) Komlanc of Niles. They also have seven grandchildren.
Stephen and the former Carol Hart were married Oct. 20, 1961, at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Mount Pleasant, Pa., by the Rev. Bruce Bishop.
Mr. Balko served in the U.S. Army and retired after 45 years from WCI Steel Corp. in 2000.
