Time to re-elect President Obama

October 9, 2011
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

DEAR EDITOR:

I just read a story about how Colin Powell is upset at some of the things that Dick Cheney said about him in his new book. Although Colin Powell was no prize package, an evil man like Dick Cheney shouldn't have anything to say about anybody.

Can you picture a meeting of George W. Bush and his henchmen in the Oval Office? There would be Bush, Cheney, Powell, Condy Rice, Karl Rove and Donald Rumsfeld and floating above them are the spirits of Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, H.R. Haldeman and John Erlichman.

I can hear Nixon now, "You know fellows, I'm so proud of that bunch; they got away with impeachable offenses, and they did it right under the people's noses."

So, fast-forward to 2012 and look what we have to look forward to. I'm not going to list all of the Republican presidential candidates, because the American people know who they are and that there isn't a good one in the bunch, but what's more important is the House of Representatives.

All of the freshmen John Boehner Republicans have to go along with some of the senior members. They have dug a hole for themselves with their anti-middle class votes, and it's getting deeper by the minute. When you have Republican voters turning against you then you are doing something wrong.

Getting President Obama re-elected and winning back the House in 2012 is imperative and hopefully we can gain a few contested seats in the Senate, and the Tea Party, with their mad hatter Sarah Palin, have to be sent back to Wonderland, and I'll drive the bus.
