RETIREES TO MEET: Ajax Magnethermic Retirees and their spouse will meet at 5 p.m. today at the Ajax-occo Picnic Grounds, located on Overland Avenue, Warren.

FREE SENIOR AND DISABILITY FAIR: The third annual fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Demetrios Community Center on Atlantic Street in Warren. Free activities include bingo, free food, cornhole, The Take II Band and prizes.

Attendees can dunk a Trumbull County sheriff's deputy for a dollar donation or canned good donation, with all proceeds given to local charities. Displays will resources are available in Trumbull County for seniors.

DEPARTMENT OF AGING ACCEPTING GRANDPARENTS DAY PHOTOS: To celebrate Grandparents Day on Sunday, the Ohio Department of Aging is asking Ohioans to submit photos of grandparents and grandchildren sharing and learning about the events and people that made their families and their communities strong via the agency's page on Facebook.

Ohioans of any age can visit www.facebook.com/OhioDepartmentOfAging and post photos to the department's wall through Wednesday. Posting requires a free Facebook account and the photos must conform to Facebook's terms of service.

Individuals may also submit their photos by mail to Ohio Department of Aging, Attn: Communications Division, 50 W. Broad St./9th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3363. Mailed submissions must be received no later than Thursday. Photos will not be returned.

TMH RETIREES TO MEET: A luncheon meeting of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Retiree Club will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Buena Vista Cafe in Warren. The program will be bingo. SCOPE SEEKS NOMINATIONS: SCOPE Inc. will hold its annual Society of Honors at noon Tuesday at the Trumbull Country Club in Warren. The awards honors outstanding citizens who have helped build the community. Honorees will be named in categories, both professional and volunteer - music, communication / media, church / religion, community / good neighbor, safety services, education, sports, labor, military, social services, business, government and other.

PARK VISTA BREAKFAST CLUB: The Park Vista Breakfast Club will present "Drums Alive" at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Park Vista's Gathering Room. The Breakfast Club includes complimentary continental breakfast.

''Drums Alive'' is an interactive program that started in Germany that aims to provide a healing experience of movement and rhythm through drum sticks, an exercise ball and music. Presenter Jen Dagati is a master instructor who was featured in a fitness journal for her inspirational participation.

HOME INSTEAD LOOKING FOR RECIPES: The local Home Instead Senior Care office is asking family caregivers to dig into the family recipe box to find a generational favorite dish and enter that recipe and the story about what makes the dish so special in the Craving Companionship Recipe Contest. Entries are due Thursday.

The contest is part of the Craving Companionship program launched to help seniors stay connected socially and eat more nutritiously. Home Instead Senior Care network research has discovered that seniors' biggest mealtime challenge is lack of companionship, organizers said.

The program offers family caregivers tips and practical advice to encourage companionship and easy healthy meals.

NUTRITION PROGRAM: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 10 locations throughout Trumbull County. These sites provide a meal and the opportunity for socialization. Donations will be accepted.

The SCOPE Senior Center is seeking volunteers to help seniors in the area make lap robes and walker caddies for the Shepherd of the Valley nursing home. No sewing ability is needed, just a desire to learn. The group meets at 1 p.m. every Monday.

Another area of need is the chorus. The chorus sings at Briarfield at the Ridge once a month to entertain the residents. They also perform at the center and whenever needed in the Niles community. The chorus meets at 1 p.m. every Friday.
