Robert and Gertrude Pittman celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept. 2, 2011, with a Mass in their honor at SS. Mary and Joseph Church in Newton Falls.
Robert M. Pittman and the former Gertrude Fiorese were married Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Mary Church in Newton Falls. The Rev. Leon Dobosiewicz officiated.
The couple have one daughter, Barbara (Mark) Malobabich of Beaver, Pa., and one granddaughter.

Mr. Pittman retired from engineering at General Motors after 32 years. Mrs. Pittman retired from Newton Falls Public School System after 40 years.
They are active members of the community and the church. They enjoy golfing, boating, traveling and spending the winter months in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
