Gloria and John Martinek celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise event at Salvatore's Restaurant in Howland.
The celebration was hosted by the couple's sons and their spouses, Randy (Lee), Brian (Jen), Kevin (Kary) and Rick (Gloriann), and their granddaughter, Heather (Mike) Knoske.
The couple were married May 6, 1961, in Salem.

John retired from the former Packard Electric Division of GMC in 1999 with 35 years of service in skilled trades.
Gloria continues to work on a per diem level in her nursing profession.
They are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The couple are very active in multiple organizations and functions in their community and very devoted to their family.
