Mr. and Mrs John M. Pappas Sr. celebrated their 70th anniversary on June 18, 2011, with family. The couple renewed their wedding vows with Gary Crawford officiating.
John Pappas and the former Jean Pyne were married June 15, 1941.
They have five children, Thomas Pappas of Warren, Jean (Susie) Phillips of Warren, John Pappas Jr. of Vienna, Patricia Meeker (deceased) and Lee Pappas (Joan) of Mecca. They also have nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A veteran of World War II, John owned gas stations on Elm Road and Parkman Road before retiring in 1991. Jean retired from Packard Electric of Warren.
