Travel agent caters to public

June 13, 2011

''I can send you anywhere in the world you want to go,'' said Vicki Stankewich, owner and agent at Howland Travel, located at 5200 E. Market St. in the Market Square Plaza.

''That is, except Cuba and Iraq,'' she joked.

Stankewich has more than 14 years experience as a travel agent and operates the full-service agency with agents that work both inside and out of the office.

Accredited by the U.S. Government, the agency specializes in honeymoons, destination weddings and group travel as well as individual vacations and travel arrangements.

''We connect people,'' Stankewich said. ''We set up reunions, such as for a cruise, and bring families together all over the country.''

Stankewich said she and her agents connect with clients by first finding out their likes and dislikes to assure they get the vacation they desire.

''Do you want to lay on a beach or do you like to visit museums?'' she said. ''Perhaps you like to go on shopping excursions or visit historical sights.''

With contacts that send between 75 and 100 e-mails a day to the agency offering discounts and travel deals, the agency can usually give clients a little more, Stankewich said.

The agency also services clients from the time they leave their home until they return, she said.

''Stress-free planning is our goal,'' Stankewich said.

Travel bookings are done free of charge to the client, Stankewich said, as the agency works solely on commission by the companies they represent.

''Personal contact is what's important,'' she said. ''We want our customers to be happy.''

The office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and other hours by appointment. For information, call 330-856-2224.
