UFCW LOCAL 880 RETIREES CLUB WILL NOT MEET: UFCW Local 880 Retirees Club will not meet in June. The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. July 12 at Davidson's Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Cornersburg. The law firm of Lane & Rusu LLP will present a seminar on Medicare, probate and elder care law. All UFCW Local 880 retirees are encouraged to attend. RETIRED TEACHERS MEET: The next meeting of the Trumbull Retired Teachers Association will be at noon Tuesday at Ciminero's Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles. Ten students from nine Trumbull County Public Schools will be introduced as the 2011 TRTA scholarship recipients. The entertainment will be a salute to the flag by members of the Trumbull Senior Production Company. The group is sponsoring the TRTA Spelling Bee at the Trumbull County Fair. Participants may register at 12:45 p.m. June 30 at the fairgrounds.

WASHINGTON SQUARE PLANS EVENTS: Washington Square Healthcare Center has two events planned:

10 a.m. June 14 with guest speaker Herman Breuer, the service officer and deputy director of the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission. He will be speak about veterans benefits.

10 a.m. July 27 with guest speaker Adam L. Sperling, an attorney who will speak about Medicaid planning for seniors.

LOCAL 2243 USWA COPPERWELD TO MEET: The retirees of Local 2243 USWA Copperweld Steel (SOAR Chapter 1-28-10) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Local 1375 Union Hall, 684 N. Park Ave., Warren. Guest speaker will be Judge W. Wyatt McKay, Court of Common Pleas.

SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY SETS CARD PARTIES: Summer card parties are offered at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles, 1500 McKinley Ave., Niles.

The first party is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 21.

Shepherd of the Valley is teaming up with the Chevy All Stars, The Senior News and AAA for a summer series of Safe Driver programs for seniors and their children. The four-program series is designed to help seniors be safer drivers. A different program will be held each month, June through September with each program held in two locations to provide easier access.

In June, Tips for Senior Drivers addresses physical changes, making the car better fit the driver, driving devices and more. Information and techniques can be immediately put to use. All attendees receive a packet of information

TMH RETIREES TO MEET: A luncheon meeting of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Retiree Club will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Buena Vista Cafe in Warren. The program will be bingo, and club officers for the coming year will be installed.

SENIOR LUNCHEON TO FEATURE SPEAKER: Sally Thomas from the Sutliff Museum will be the guest speaker at St. Joseph's Hospital Seniors Luncheon at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road N.E., Warren.

AARP OFFERS DRIVERS SAFETY CLASS: The AARP Drivers Safety Class will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 29 at the Bazetta Township Police Department, 2671 McCleary Jacoby Road, Cortland.

AARP charges $12 for members and $14 for non-members for the class.

The class is directed toward drivers 50 and older but welcomes drivers of all ages. There are no tests at the end of the class.

FREE LUNCHES OFFERED: Ward Center Presbyterian Church, 490 Lucy St., Masury, will serve free lunches for those 60 and older from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the third and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

NUTRITION PROGRAM: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 10 locations throughout Trumbull County. These sites provide a meal and the opportunity for socialization. Donations will be accepted.

The SCOPE Senior Center is seeking volunteers to help seniors in the area make lap robes and walker caddies for the Shepherd of the Valley nursing home. No sewing ability is needed, just a desire to learn. The group meets at 1 p.m. every Monday.

Another area of need is the chorus. The chorus sings at Briarfield at the Ridge once a month to entertain the residents. They also perform at the center and whenever needed in the Niles community. The chorus meets at 1 p.m. every Friday.

Tuesday: Music of Mama Mia - ABBA tribute band, Packard Music Hall, Warren. Transportation, lunch and show, $55.
