APRIL IS MINORITY HEALTH MONTH: ''Cancer 101: How it Affects Women'' will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown. Women will be provided education on cancer-related issues affecting their health. Information on breast, ovarian and cervical cancer will be provided along with interactive nutrition and exercise session, chair massages, door prizes and giveaways. The event is funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.

HEALTH FAIR SET AT PARISH: A health and wellness fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Christine's Parish. The fair will offer "one-stop shopping" for free information on healthy food, exercise, stress relief and spirituality, plus free clinical screenings. Admission is free. The fair will include an exhibit hall with more than 60 informational booths and exhibits by a variety of community health resources and service organizations, massages, free health screenings, Mammovan, a children's area, door prizes, free samples and a blood drive.

SUPPORT GROUP OFFERS INFORMATION: The Chronic Fatigue and / or Fabromyalgia Support Group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. April 18 at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave., Warren. NILES HOLDS IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: A wellness clinic will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and April 20 at the Niles Health Department, 34 W. COUNTY SETS IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: The Trumbull County Health Department has scheduled community childhood immunization clinics from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at West Farmington Community Center, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. April 12 at Mesopotamia Fire Station, and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 13 at Southington Christian Center.

HEALTH FAIR SET AT YSU: The Youngstown Chapter of The Links Incorporated will hold its annual health fair, "300 Sisters in Red," from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at the Youngstown State University Kilcawley Center. The focus of the health fair is to support the campaign for Women's Heart Health Awareness. Information about heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer will be among topics discussed. SPEAKER TO DISCUSS CLUB: The First Ohio Chapter of the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health will have speaker Tony Perrone, director of Boys and Girls Club, speak from 7 to 9 p.m. April 13 at the D&E Clinic, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. AGENCY OFFERS PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES: The Multiple Sclerosis Services Agency Trumbull County Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St., Cortland. MS SUPPORT GROUP: The MS Support Group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Knights of Columbus Warren Council, 1947 E. Market St., Warren. STAND UP, SPEAK OUT!: Stand Up, Speak Out!, an event addressing substance abuse and violence in youth, will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 14 at the Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St., Youngstown. Youth are invited to the learning experience that will address substance abuse and violence. The session will also include fun team building interactive session by Harambee Inc., giveaways and door prizes.

IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: The Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., is offering an immunization clinic from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. No appointments are necessary and no one is refused for inability to pay. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the child's immunization records must be brought to the clinic. For more information, call 330-544-9000, Ext. 163.

COLORECTAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH: In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the Humility of Mary Health Partners Cancer Centers are offering free fecal occult blood test (FOBT) kits.

An FOBT is a simple chemical test that can detect hidden blood in the stool, which is a symptom of colorectal cancer. This test can be performed in the privacy of your home. Those at risk for colorectal cancer are 50 and older, physically inactive, smokers, and those with a family history of the disease. If detected early, colorectal cancer is 90 percent curable.

FLU CLINIC: A flu clinic will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. daily at Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave., Warren. Medicaid and Medicare will be accepted. All others are $20 each. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 330-373-0222.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: The Community Mental Health Support Group meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, First United Methodist Church, 309 N. WOMEN IN TOUCH PROGRAMS: Humility of Mary Health Partners will offer two Women in Touch Programs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Leo's Ristorante, 7042 East Market St., Howland.

The topic is "Making Your Home a Healthy Home." Participants will learn common household hazards, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, carbon monoxide, radon, mold and volatile organic compounds, the factors that contribute to air quality and health, and what to do to prevent or reduce exposure.
