Mr. and Mrs. William Wiencek celebrated their 50th anniversary on Jan. 29, 2011, at a surprise party at Vernon's Restaurant in Niles.
Bill and the former Janet Lee Williams were married Feb. 4, 1961, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown.
They have lived at the same residence in Niles all of their married lives.

Janet is a life-long member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Niles, and after their marriage Bill joined her there serving in various positions in the church.
The surprise party was hosted by the couple's four children, Ken (Louise), Mike (Julie), Michele (John) Thomas and Craig. They also have five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Bill retired as a chief master sergeant from Youngstown Air Force Reserve Base in Vienna after 36 years of service. He also served two years in the U.S. Army. Janet is self-employed.
The couple enjoy fishing, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They will continue the celebration of their anniversary with a two-week trip to Alaska, provided as a surprise by their children.
