STROKE PREVENTION: The Youngstown / Warren Black Nurse Association will present Diala Harb speaking on the prevention and risk factors of heart attack and stroke, from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Forum Health Education Building Room 4. Refreshments will be served.

HEART SUPPORT GROUP: Mended Hearts, Chapter 7, a heart support group for members and their families, will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at St. Elizabeth's Boardman Campus in the Azalea Room. Guest speaker will be Kay Lavelle of the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department, who will speak on meeting the needs of seniors. The public is invited. YOGA CLASS: A seven-session beginning yoga class will be held Mondays, Feb. 28 through April 18 at St. Joseph Health Center, 667 Eastland Ave., Warren. Class time is 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Certified yoga instructor Dawn Perhacs will teach simple yoga postures and breathing and relaxation techniques. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket and a small pillow to each class.

Adults only. Class size is limited.

Cost is $58; $44 for Humility of Mary Health Partners employees. BRR FOR A CURE: The second annual BRR for a Cure Polar Bear Plunge is March 5, on the shore of Craig Beach at Lake Milton State Park, 1320 Grandview Ave., in Lake Milton.

The Polar Bear Plunge gives people of all ages the opportunity to jump or walk into a specific area of the water where the ice has been cut away and removed. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $25 per person. Proceeds will be used by the American Cancer Society in their mission to fight cancer.

EM's and other personnel from the Milton Township Fire Department will be in the water at all times to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

The actual plunge is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. To further ensure safety for everyone, only a small group of people will be permitted to jump or walk into the water at one time. All Polar Bear Plungers must register the day of the event to receive their jump number. T-shirts will be given to all jumpers with $100 or more in donations.

Hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate and other warm refreshments will be available at the refreshment area for a minimal donation.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS: St. Joseph Health Center will provide blood pressure checks from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Warren Family Mission on Elm Road, Warren.

CHILDHOOD IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: The clinic will be 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 28, at the Warren City Health Department, 418 Main Ave. S.W., Warren. All clinics are walk-in with no appointment. There is a $10 administration fee, Medicaid card accepted. Bring a current shot record, and a parent must accompany the child.

IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: The Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., is offering an immunization clinic from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. March 2 and 16. No appointments are necessary and no one is refused for inability to pay. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the child's immunization records must be brought to the clinic. For more information, call 330-544-9000, Ext. 163.

FLU CLINIC: The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. daily at Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave., Warren. Medicaid and Medicare will be accepted. All others are $20 each. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 330-373-0222.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: The Community Mental Health Support Group meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave., Warren; and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the church. This group is for those with or those who know someone with a mental illness. FREE WORKOUT: The Q Club Fitness Facility offers a free workout the third Saturday morning of each month. Offered are cardio classes, zumba and water classes. For more information, call 330-856-4777.
