RETIREES MEET: Packard Electric and Delphi Packard Local 717 Retirees will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Local 717's Union hall, located in Warren Commerce Park, 2950 Sferra Ave., Warren. Members attending are asked to bring a labeled covered dish and table service.

This is the last meeting to turn in the free membership coupons won at the Christmas party. Memberships may also be renewed for a $5 annual fee.

SCOPE INC. MEETING: SCOPE Inc. will hold its 48th annual meeting at 11:40 a.m. Feb. 28 at SCOPE Warren, 220 W. Market St. In a tribute to leadership, a portrait of Dorothy Klein, one of two founders of SCOPE will be unveiled. The portrait was commissioned by SCOPE and painted by Judy Waid, Warren artist. Klein died in 2008.

Attending from Arlington, Va., will be Klein's son Kent, who will give a brief remembrance of the early days of SCOPE.

New board of trustee members will be introduced: Michael Psznick, Garland Bradshaw, Sandra Foster, Ph.D., and Barry Dunaway. Retiring trustees are Bill Horton, John Kurtz and Sharon Wathen.

Donation of $15 includes a full-menu luncheon prepared in the SCOPE kitchen served at noon.

MONTHLY LUNCHEON: Howland Schools Retired Personnel will meet at 11 a.m. March 1 at Enzo's. All retired school personnel and their spouses / guests are welcome to attend the informal monthly lunch meetings and fellowship. Cost of the lunch, payable at the door, is $10 with a choice from the three to four entrees offered. Donations of "comfort foods" - canned soup, boxed macaroni and cheese, etc. - for delivery to Beatitude House may be brought to the meeting. OLDEST WORKER: Nominations now are being accepted in the search for America's Outstanding Oldest Worker for 2011. Sponsored by Experience Works, the search is part of a national effort to raise awareness about the contributions older individuals make in today's workplace and to break down barriers often associated with their employment. In Ohio, Experience Works operates the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide skills training, work experience and community service opportunities for low-income older workers.

America's Outstanding Oldest Worker nominees must be 100 years of age or older, currently employed, working at least 20 hours each week for pay and involved in his or her community. Additional information, including the nomination form, is available at www.experienceworks.org. The deadline for nominations is April 15, 2011.

TAX HELP: AARP Tax Aide will prepare taxes for people of any age who have earnings of less than $100,000 and who are not operating a business that maintains inventory or uses any financial systems other than cash accounting.

NUTRITION PROGRAM: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 10 locations throughout Trumbull County. The SCOPE Senior Center is seeking volunteers to help seniors in the area make lap robes and walker caddies for the Shepherd of the Valley nursing home. No sewing ability is needed, just a desire to learn. The group meets every Monday at 1 p.m.

Another area of need is the chorus. The chorus sings at Briarfield at the Ridge once a month to entertain the residents. They also perform at the center and whenever needed in the Niles community. The chorus meets every Friday at 1 p.m.
