First Baptist Church, 26 E. Church St., has announced the retirement of Pastor G. Ben Reed after 20 years as senior pastor with the parish.
Reed has been serving the Niles church since May 1981. His final Sunday as pastor will be Sunday, where he will be preaching at the 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. worship services.
Reed will be officially retired on Jan. 13.
His wife, Pam, retired as church secretary in October after 21 years of service. Pastor and Mrs. Reed plan to continue to reside in Niles and will continue to attend the First Baptist Church.
The church will be hosting a retirement banquet at the end of the month to honor the Reeds' years of faithful service.
