Pastor Norman H. and Mrs. Audrey M. Schinkel of Howland celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 10, 2010.
Mr. Schinkel and the former Audrey Ricketts were united in marriage July 10, 1960, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mount Rainier, Md.
Trinity congregation honored Pastor and Mrs. Schinkel and their family with a dinner Aug. 8, 2010, at DiLucia's in Warren, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Pastor Schinkel's 50th anniversary of ordination, and his 34 years at Trinity, he as pastor and Mrs. Schinkel as organist and pianist.
Pastor Schinkel graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1960 where he received a master of divinity degree. His first call was to Grace Lutheran Church, Mitchell, Ontario, Canada. He then served for 11 years at Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, Wis. In 1976, he was called to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Howland.
Mrs. Schinkel is a graduate of American University, Washington, D.C. where she received a bachelor's degree in piano performance and a master's degree in education and psychology. She taught music in the Montgomery County (Md.) public schools, then was an instructor in piano and theory at Concordia University, River Forest, Ill. She is a licensed social worker and was employed at Trumbull County Children's Services for 25 years, retiring in 2006.
The couple especially enjoys visiting their three children and seven grandchildren.
