Garvin 50th

James "Ron" and Phyllis C. Garvin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 2010.

Ron and the former Phyllis Brown met on Nov. 2, 1960, and were married three days later.

Ron was a dedicated employee of General Motors for more than 30 years. He retired in 2002 and since then has worked part-time and spends time with his wife, children and grandchildren as well as many family members and friends who he devotedly visits every week.

Phyllis owned and operated Garvin's Upholstery in Niles for many years. She has worked at various other companies, showcasing her talent for sewing. She is retired and spends time with family and friends, doting on her Chihuahuas, who make her very happy.

Both Ron and Phyllis spend a lot of time in their yard, and their flowers are admired by friends, family and neighbors. Ron is a devoted fan of the Niles Red Dragons, he has not missed a Niles McKinley Dragon season opener in 51 years. Ron is also a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan.

Ron and Phyllis have three daughters, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
