Howland Community News

The community is invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate the life of Allan Segall at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at Squaw Creek Country Club, 761 Youngstown-Kingsville Road S.E., Vienna.

Segall, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 3 at his home in Fountain Hills, Ariz.

''Allan cared deeply about every aspect of the community,'' said township administrator Darlene St. George. ''He cared about the children, the residents and the appearance of the community,'' she said.

Segall began his career in the beverage industry as owner of a Pepsi-Cola distributorship and a Coca-Cola bottling company in Warren. He later became president and general manager of R.L. Lipton Distributing Company.

But it is his dedication to his community that touched hundreds of lives. Segall served as president of the Howland Township School Board and president of Kent State University Trumbull Campus Advisory Board. He was a member of the Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals, board member of Children's Rehabilitation Center and the Beth Israel Temple. He also was a member of the Order of the Elks and Masons Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Pearl Bloch Segall, his children Nate, Terri Lipsitz, Bob and Rick and his nine grandchildren.

''He will be missed by all of us,'' said St. George.
