The Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W., Warren, has announced the beginning of the Winter Crisis Program.

Customers in need of utility assistance may contact the agency at 330-393-2507, Ext. 225, for an appointment. Walk-in customers are accepted at 7:30 a.m. Monday mornings for the first 20 people to arrive and again at 12:30 p.m. for the first 20 to arrive in the afternoon. Walk-ins also will be accepted at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday mornings for the first 20 people. All others are scheduled appointments.

Customers must provide photo identification; social security cards for all household members; most recent gas and/or fuel oil receipt, electric bill and proof of all money received in the home for the past 13 weeks, if employed or child support, or three months proof of income if received monthly. If they are disabled and do not receive an income for their disability, they must provide documentation of being disabled. Customers must have all information required to be seen.

To be eligible for assistance, customers must have a notice of disconnection on their gas and/or electric utilities. A household is eligible to receive a delivery of fuel if their tank contains 25 percent or less of its capacity or a delivery of coal or wood.

Income guidelines to be eligible for assistance include households with one resident, $5,415 three months total income or $21,660 for 12 months; two residents at $7,285 three months income or $29,140 for 12 months; and three residents at $9,155 for three months and $36,620 for 12 months.

For additional household members, add $1,870 to the three months total income and $7,480 to the 12 months total income.

Customers in need of utility assistance who do not meet the eligibility guidelines may pay the utility companys directly. Under the Winter Reconnection Order, the total amount of $175 may be paid to regulated utility companies to restore service, stop disconnection of service or to start new service at a different address. The deadline to apply for the Winter Reconnection Order is March 31.
