THE TRUMBULL COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W., Warren, announces the beginning of the winter crisis program. Customers who are in need of utility assistance may contact the agency at 330-393-2507, Ext. 225, for an appointment. Walk-in customers are accepted on Monday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. for the first 20 people to arrive and then again at 12:30 p.m. for the first 20 people who arrived for the afternoon. Walk-ins will be accepted on Wednesday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. for the first 20 people. All others are scheduled appointments.
Customers must provide photo identification; Social Security cards for all household members; most recent gas and / or fuel oil receipt, electric bill and proof of all money received in the home for the past 13 weeks, if employed or child support, or three months proof of income if received monthly. If customers are disabled and do not receive an income for their disability, they must provide documentation of being disabled.
To be eligible for assistance, customers must have a notice of disconnection on their gas and/or electric utilities. A household is eligible to receive a delivery of fuel if their tank contains 25 percent or less of its capacity or a delivery of coal or wood.
To be eligible for assistance, a household of three must have three months total income of $9,155 or less and a 12 months total income of $36,620.
Customers in need of utility assistance who do not meet the eligibility guidelines may pay the utility company(s) directly. Under the winter reconnection order, the total amount of $175 may be paid to regulated utility companies to restore service, stop disconnection of service or to start new service at a different address. The deadline to apply for winter reconnection order is March 31.

AREA AGENCY ON AGING 11 INC. will help people navigate through choosing a Part D plan and / or Medicare health plan for next year. The free Medicare Check-Up Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W. in Warren.
AAA11 is a non-profit agency and this is a non-biased assessment for people choosing a plan or considering switching plans. AAA11 staff also will discuss extra help with prescription drugs and other benefits for which older adults may qualify.
Participants are required to bring their Medicare card and a complete list of prescriptions and dosage.

TRUMBULL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL is sponsoring a free program for women to meet with leading medical professionals at "A Time to Wine," from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, at the YWCA of Warren.
The program, titled "She's Got Legs," is focused on varicose and spider veins. Board certified experts Dr. Richard J. Loges III, an interventional radiologist, and Dr. Eugene V. Vitvitsky, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, will discuss the causes, treatment and concerns regarding veins and blood clots in the legs. They will also be available for questions. Refreshments will also be provided along with free screenings and educational handouts.
The Time to Wine series is a collaboration with the YWCA of Warren. The programs provide information in a relaxed environment and provide access to physicians to answer questions in a non-clinical setting that may not require the urgency of an office visit. The YWCA will also have information on programs that are important to women and can make a difference in their health.

THE TRUMBULL COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT will provide flu vaccine to everyone 19 years and older at the health department at 176 Chestnut St. on Tuesday. It will be a walk-in clinic and the times are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. The cost of the vaccine is $20. The following insurance will be accepted for the vaccine: Medicare Part - B, Medicare Railroad, Traditional Medicaid, Care Source Medicaid, United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna, any PFFS plans (Physician Fee For Service Plans labeled as PFFS), The Health Plan and Medicare Railroad.
