Niles Housing Code Enforcement Officer, Steve Yovich, has called a meeting of the Housing Board of Appeals at 3 p.m. Nov. 8 in the first floor conference room at the administration building.
Old business listed on the agenda includes a structure and outbuilding at 35 Neil St., owned by Anthony Spalvaieri; a structure at 229 W. State St., owned by Lori M. Johnson; and a structure at 29 Wood St., owned by Richard A. Boccia. All three properties are recommended for demolition.
New business includes a structure at 522 N. Cedar, owned by JC Investments Fund Inc.; a structure and outbuilding at 115 Madison, owned by Cathy A. Swegan; and a structure and attached garage at 420 Hickory, owned by James A. Hake.
If the board votes to demolish, the property owners can seek injunctions in the Trumbull County court of common pleas. Since 1998, when the housing code was established, more than 100 structures have been torn down either by the city or by property owners.
