NILES - The Niles Historical Society will have speaker Shirley Griffin of Salem share the story of ''Mary and Martha's Apron'' at a fall luncheon and program at noon Sept. 25 at the Ward-Thomas Museum Westenfield Room, 503 Brown St.
Griffin is a recipient of the prestigious Billy Davis Award and 1997 National Christian Educator of the Year honors.
She will present "Mary and Martha's Apron,'' discussing the apron and its principal use to protect the dress underneath. Griffin will share how it was easier to wash an apron than a dress and how aprons used less material. She will also discuss the difference between Mary and Martha's apron.
Griffin will share light hearted tales using a vintage fashion item to tell the story. She will also talk about grandma's apron and all the many uses she had for such a piece of fabric.
