THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION will be holding its monthly Caregiver Support Groups on the following dates:

Today at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown..

Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland-Wilson Road N.E., Howland.

Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Market St., Conference Room F, Warren.

HILLSIDE STROKE SUPPORT GROUP will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursday in the hospital board room. The meeting is open to all stroke survivors and their families. To help raise funds for patient equipment purchases, the HILLSIDE HOSPITAL GIFT SHOP is sponsoring a two day jewelry event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Hillside Hospital cafeteria.

HILLSIDE REHABILITATION HOSPITAL has received a $3,900 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The award was one of 89 grants totaling more than $500,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access, and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families and caregivers.

Hillside will use the grant to continue to help those living with paralysis become active members in everyday life. Through the Expanding the Dream: Hillside Adapted Sports Program will utilize the grant dollars for bowling, archery and golf fees as well as for competitions/tournaments. Archery, biking, golf, bocce, bowling, and air rifle are among the activities available through this program.

In conjunction with the AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP PARK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES, more than four dozen senior citizen artists will be exhibiting their paintings beginning at 7 p.m. today at the park pavilion. The artists range in age from 45 to 99. All are residents of the Briarfield Group assisted living and residence facilities in Austintown and Mineral Ridge.

THE DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF THE VALLEY is hosting the "i have a voice" traveling gallery in the Mahoning Valley through Aug. 13 at the Eastwood Mall.

The traveling gallery is a collection of portraits of children and adults with Down syndrome. The portraits are paired with quotations.

The gallery will also be on display at the Buddy Walk of the Valley at the Shops at Boardman Park on Aug. 14 and in front of Macy's in the Southern Park Mall Aug. 14 through 23.

Dr. John Mistretta's BACK 2 HEALTH CHIROPRACTIC, 1975 Niles-Cortland Road N.E., Warren, has partnered with "Mr. Wellness" Butch Temnick in participating in a WELLNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM for those in Trumbull County.

This presentation teaches adults how to change their lifestyle and take control of their health. Those who are on medication and would like to be off of it or would like to prevent themselves being put on medication may be interested in this program.

THE WARREN CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT will offer childhood immunizations from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 and 23. A $5 administration fee of Medicaid is accepted. No appointment is necessary. THE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SERVICES AGENCY TRUMBULL COUNTY SUPPORT GROUP will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St., Cortland.

The Niles Wellness Center and the Global Health & Fitness Center are the host locations for a WELLNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM providing free presentations about changing lifestyles. Seating is limited. THE STEPPING OUT MINORITY DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM is a free program that includes line dancing, salsa, aerobics and other activities, as well as diabetes prevention; healthy eating and cooking classes; and regular health screenings for cholesterol, body fat, weight and blood pressure.

Western Reserve Independent Living Center is having their SIXTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS CLASS which will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 12, in room A. These classes are open to the public as well as agencies. Ed Brannan is our EMP Coordinator. This month we have a speaker Pat Connelly from the "9-11 Memorial in Austintown".
