BMV?closes its Truck World office

June 20, 2010
Hubbard Community News

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced in early June they would permanently close the deputy registrar agency at 6965 Truck World Blvd. in Hubbard at 5 p.m. June 24.

The agency apologized for any inconvenience to residents in a press release and offered alternate locations at 667 Gypsy Lane and 2950 Mahoning Ave., both in Youngstown, and at the Eastwood Mall in Niles. The Gypsy Lane location is the closest, at seven miles from Hubbard with the Eastwood Mall location the furthest at just under 13 miles.

Motorists also are encouraged to renew vehicle registration and purchase specialty license plates online at www.OPlates.com.

Hubbard Township Trustees filed a formal complaint and request for reconsideration with Ohio Governor Ted Strickland in early June and as of the regular meeting of township trustees held June 14, had not yet received a response.

''The Hubbard area has had a Deputy Registrar since the early 1950s and this move will leave this part of the county without service, and will present a real hardship for Hubbard area residents and the general trucking operations located at or near the interstate interchange area,'' wrote trustee chairman Fred Hanley in a recent press release.

''If you agree that the move is not in the best interests of our community, please contact Governor Strickland, State Senator Cafaro, or Representative Harwood and express your concerns,'' Hanley said.

Customers with questions regarding BMV service issues can visit the website at www.bmv.ohio.gov or call the customer service line at 614-752-7500.
