TCESC?recognizes students

Trumbull County Educational Service Center held its annual scholarship banquet May 11 at Leo's Ristorante where $32,300 in scholarships was awarded to 45 students from 23 schools.

The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award, a $2,500 scholarship, was awarded to Terry Pack from Niles McKinley High School. Local students receiving the Franklin B. Walter nominee textbook awards in the amount of $200 each, included Alisa Cario, Girard; Shaun Hardin, Howland; Melissa Wasser, McDonald High School; and Anthony Pannunzio, Mineral Ridge High School.

Local students receiving the First Place Bank Paul A. Watson Academic Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each were: Julia Guerrieri, Girard High School; Ashlee Jones, Howland High School; Melissa Wasser, McDonald High School; Emily Marburger, Niles McKinley High School; and Tara Yacavone, Mineral Ridge High School.

The Stanley L. and Grace A. Woofter Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 was presented to Mathew Margo, Niles McKinley High School.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center provides educational leadership and instruction in the areas of curriculum development, special education and technology. The center employs more than 200 teachers, therapists, psychologists and other specialists who work directly with approximately 3,500 students in 20 school districts. In addition, the center conducts professional growth seminars for approximately 2,000 teachers each year. Serving as a link between the Ohio Department of Education and the schools, The Trumbull County Educational Service Center works in conjunction with the school districts to provide programs that promote the highest levels of learning for children in Trumbull County.
