Trumbull Mobile Meals announces there are available routes in Girard for its home-delivered meals.
Due to the greater need for home-delivered meals, there is currently no waiting list for deliveries, according to TMM. The agency serves one or two meals per day, depending on the need of the client, and has varied diet plans that include low salt, low fat, renal or dialysis, chopped and pureed. Service is to most parts of Trumbull County. There is a nominal fee for the service but in keeping with the TMM mission that "no person goes hungry in our community," a sliding scale program is available to the financially needy. TMM serves anyone with a qualified need and age is not a factor. Call the TMM office at 330-394-2538 for more information or to apply to receive meals.
Immediate volunteer opportunities exist for drivers on the 25 routes, especially in Girard and Warren, the agency said.
Anyone with an hour to spare once a week, or even once a month, can help. Daily, 50-55 volunteers deliver meals to more than 250 individuals. Many churches and organizations have taken on routes on a weekly basis in service of their communities. For more information, call 330-394-2538.
