The Lakeview High School Class of 1989 celebrated their 20-year class reunion on Sept. 4 with a tailgate at the LHS football game, followed by a dinner at Aulizio's Sept. 5. There were about 70 members in attendance.
The second graduating class of Champion High School 1959 held its 50th reunion Sept. 18, at the home of Mary Charlotte McCrae (John) McClure, Jamestown, Pa., with 26 classmates, 11 guests attending the Traditional Potluck Dinner.
The reunion continued Sept. 19 with 12 classmates and six guests for lunch at Wayside Restaurant, Champion. A tour of Champion High School and Central Elementary was held with 21 classmates and six guests, followed by dinner at J. D. Post House with 28 classmates and 13 guests.
There were 23 classmates and 13 guests traveling from Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Diane Post won the 50/50 raffle, then donated it back to purchase a brick with Class of 1959 stamped on it from the Champion Alumni Association, which is sponsoring the Champion Athletic Complex Wall / Walk of Champion.
Ron Wolfe provided '50s music.
There was a memorial table honoring the classmates who have passed, including David L Barnes, Ronald J.Gradishar, Ronald Roy Harclerode, John D Schnulo, Marvin Williams and Doris Ann Windham Torek.
This year's reunion committee was voted in for the 55th reunion for year 2014. They are as follows: Carol Grant Zunic, Martha Broadwell Urchek, Mary Charlotte McCrae McClure, Ron Wolfe and Cathryn Wilson Fink.
Mineral Ridge High School Class of 1959 celebrated its 50th reunion with a two-day event held at the Rebekah Lodge and Mineral Ridge High School.
