Dear Editor:
Has anyone noticed the beautiful changes going on at Tylee Park? Our neglected park is undergoing a total restoration thanks to a handful of concerned and caring citizens. What is really amazing is that it is entirely funded by donations other than a $500 grant the Hubbard Junior Garden Club attained thanks to Jan Schaller. That means none of our city or tax money is being spent on Tylee Park.
Debbie Shields, Kathy Thomson and Dave Wittenauer came up with the new design for the gardens and renovations. The work is done entirely by volunteers donating their time and energy to the backbreaking job. Debbie and Harry Shields along with Dave Wittenauer are doing the majority of the work with the help of John Clemente, Howard Huffman, Ralph and Cecilia Cooper, Joann Beach, Jan Schaller, Marilyn Mathews, Kathy Thomson, and the members of Hubbard Environmental & Land Preservation. Debbie says they were so lucky to have Three Flags Landscaping and Accessories jump in and volunteer to fix the brick sidewalks and build the stone columns and add the stone walls. Also they gave the river rock for the boxwood beds.
There is still a lot of work to be done, so let's give this group of people our support and help in making our town better and more beautiful. It is a win win situation for the town of Hubbard. Also don't forget this is being done entirely by donations, so please do your part and make a donation to the Tylee Park restoration. Debbie also said they are going to have memorial beds available as an additional way to raise money for Tylee Park. I think this is a wonderful thing they are doing for our town, and I can't thank them enough.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Perry
Hubbard
