Hubbard Township Trustees will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday for the purpose of making changes to the content and text of recent zoning amendments.
In other updates from the trustees, the township is moving forward with a demolition grant package through the Trumbull County Planning Commission. The grant is fully funded through the federal government. The township hopes to demolish 10 to 15 non-commercial structures with the funding, which is based on income levels within block groups tracked by the 2010 census figures.
The 2009 road paving project, although delayed, is expected to be completed this year and trustees have submitted additional roads for maintenance and safety upgrades for 2010. The upgrades, if approved, will fall under the state Issue I program with the township expecting to increase its local share to 31 percent of the total project cost.
Township Trustee Joe Gleydura recently attended additional training in negotiations concerning labor agreements. Gleydura also has attended several training events, which will allow him to be the contract negotiator for the police and road department labor agreements. According to the trustees, Gleydura's training has saved the township several thousand dollars in legal fees.
Hubbard Township currently has openings on the township zoning board for both full and alternate positions. The township also is in the process of forming a Property Maintenance Committee to provide guidelines for the establishment of property maintenance requirements for residential zoning districts. Those interested in working on these projects should send a letter of interest to Trustee Chairman Joe Gleydura, 2600 Elmwood Drive, Hubbard, OH, 44425. Only residents of Hubbard Township will be considered.
