Fifth and Goldie set for paving

July 26, 2009
Liberty Community News

Township trustees met July 13 and accepted a state grant to pave all of Goldie Road and portions of Fifth Avenue.

Trustee Chairman W. Gary Litch said the township is responsible for a 31 percent match of the $213,900 grant. He said the grant will greatly help the Wal-Mart store, which is slated to open later this summer at the corner of Goldie Road and Fifth Avenue. The project also will include some drainage improvements.

Trustee Jodi Stoyak said the township is considering bidding the paving project and retention pond on Belmont Avenue at the same time in order to try and save money by having both projects tied together.

The paving project will not be started before the store is open, Stoyak said.

In other business, Litch also said he has asked Trumbull Commissioners to allow the township to take over maintenance of Lakeview Drive.

Litch said several residents have signed a petition asking the township to take over a portion that was not completed by the developer, who did not have a bond and has since gone out of business.

Trustees are not scheduled to meet in August. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Liberty Township Trustees is Sept. 14 in the township hearing room at the administration building. A caucus is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting at 7 p.m.
