Brookfield Township trustees are supporting Liberty in its quest for an alternative dispatch service for police departments.

Liberty and Brookfield are applying for $157,320 through the EfficientGovNow program for a dispatching service.

The fund is giving out up to $300,000 to three projects with the public to vote throughout July, according to EfficientGovNow. The finalists will be announced July 1. There are 45 communities vying for money.

Brookfield Trustee Chairman Phil Schmidt said during a special meeting that for Liberty to be eligible for the the grant, they needed another community to be involved with dispatching with them.
