Liberty High artists prepare for exhibition

Students from art classes at Liberty High School are preparing to exhibit their work in the Trumbull County Educational Service Center's Student Art Show. The show will be held at the Art Outreach Gallery in the J.C. Penney concourse of the Eastwood Mall over three weekends in April.

The Art Show will be held on Fridays, April 3, 10, and 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be held on the following Saturdays, April 4, 11, and 18 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on the following Sundays, April 5 and 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Student Art Show will feature approximately 120 pieces of art by more than 100 local high school students. The artwork will include photography, metal designs, sculpture, ceramics, prints, drawings and paintings.

There will be one scholarship and several other awards given at this Student Art Show. One student, selected by a jury of professional artists, will receive a $500 scholarship to Youngstown State University and a gift certificate for $150 in art supplies. Three students selected by the jurors will receive gift certificates for $75 in art supplies. One student will receive a People's Choice Award, which is a gift certificate for $75 in art supplies.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center provides educational leadership and instruction in the areas of curriculum development, special education and technology. The Center employs more than 200 teachers, therapists, psychologists, classroom assistants, and other specialists who work directly with approximately 3,500 students in 20 school districts.
