Newton Falls classmates met on June 14

THE NEWTON FALLS CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS 89th REUNION was held June 14 at G's Golden Gate Restaurant in Warren with 368 members in attendance. Dorothy Holecko Fogel introduced the class of 1958 and gave the history of their year.

Introduction of teachers present included Dick Glass, Gene Zorn, Bill Grodesky, Cathy Harvey Shonce, Elsie Wetzel, Ruth Sipka and Pat Kolasky McCutcheon.

Andrew Branik, class of 1950, gave a presentation of the life of the late Ernie Relac, class of 1946, who was a fighter pilot. Relac's medals and honors are on display at the History Room in the Newton Falls Public Library.

During the roll call of classes, Merial Price gave special recognition to 11 classmates present from the 1930-40 graduation classes - Jean Lewis, Sal Johnson, Ila Sherman, Robert Elmore, Ed Chopko, Dorothy Conner, Howard McLaughlin, Katharine Apger, Wendall Shaw, Herbert Hewitt and Rita Ogan.

The annual presentation of the keeper of the town pump for the next year was won by William Dickey and presented to him by Pat Jagiella.

Acknowledgements for 2008 include, Traveled the farthest, Robert Branik, Jack Grodesky and Ed Goldthwaite, all from California; and most family members present, Elmore, Allen and Jewell families each had five members present.

Judy Jewell Hood will be chairperson for the 2009 reunion. Other officers are Ray Rubrake, vice chairperson; Merial Hilty Price, secretary; Gerri Stanley Oreskovich, assistant secretary; Evelyn Ballas, treasurer; and Velma Jones Jacob, historian.

Next year's reunion will be held June 20, 2009.

THE NILES MCKINLEY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1952 will hold its 56th reunion at 3 p.m. on Sept. 27. A picnic luncheon and an evening bonfire and roast will be held at the home of Chuck and Nancy Nestor.

Letters of information will be mailed July 1, with reservations being accepted until Sept. 1.

BROOKFIELD HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1968 is having its 40th class reunion on Sept. 27 at Chestnut Street Cafe, 23 Chestnut St., Sharon, Pa. The reunion committee is still looking for the following classmates:
