Albert J. Timko Sr. 1928-2008

He was born March 3, 1928, in Dixonville, Pa., son of Joseph and Anna Berish Timko Sr. Albert was a 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.
Albert served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1956.
Albert retired in 1981 as a lieutenant in the Warren Police Department and retired as chief of the Warren Township Police Department in 1991.
He was an active and charter member of St. William Catholic Church. Albert also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7491, Warren Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 34, Ohio Police Chief Association, Trumbull County Police and Firemen Retirees Association, Ohio Police Benevolent Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge of Cortland and Golden Agers Club of St. William Catholic Church.
Albert enjoyed fishing, bowling, and gardening.
Albert’s wife, Peggy Jean Shank Timko, whom he married Aug. 19, 1994, survives. His first wife, Pauline P. Petiya Timko, whom he married April 22, 1950, passed away May 28, 1994.
Albert is also survived by four sons, Albert J. ‘‘Jim’’ (Diane) Timko Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Allen J. Timko of Warren, Timothy J. (Carol) Timko of Warren and Ronald L. (Sheena) Timko of Warren; three daughters, Sheryl Ann Polta of Warren, Paulette S. (Thomas) Propst of Rome and Louise K. (Tim) Barbutes of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a stepson, Kenneth A. Jones of Newton Falls; a stepdaughter, Cheryl (Gerald) Kloc of Newton Falls; and two sisters, Emma M. Burin of Warren and Dorothy A. Grohosky of Sacramento, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and parents, Albert was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis R. Jones; three brothers, Joseph, Stephen and Edward Timko; and three sisters, Mary Petrilla, Ann Politsky and Elizabeth Yount.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home, and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at St. William Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. William Catholic Church. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery.
