Rosemary E. Burckart, 1916-2008

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — Rosemary E. Burckart, 92, formerly of Pierce Avenue, Sharpsville, Pa., passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Shepherd of the Valley, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Burckart was born April 11, 1916, in Sharon, Pa., a daughter of the late William J. Conlin and Elizabeth F. Knapp Conlin.

A lifelong area resident, she was a 1933 graduate of Sharpsville High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and a former member of the Church of the Sacred Heart, both in Sharon. A homemaker, she was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the America’s, Court 507, Sharon.

Her husband, Raymond E. Burckart Sr., whom she married April 15, 1941, passed away May 18, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Beth Havasi and her husband, Joe D. Havasi, of Niles; two sons, Raymond E. Burckart Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Hermitage, Pa., and James C. Burckart and his wife, Eileen, of Canton; six grandchildren, Raymond E. Burckart III of Hermitage, Jeanne Burckart of Norfolk, Va., Michael Burckart and his wife, Mande, of Hermitage, Shannon Burckart of Columbus, Christopher Burckart and his wife, Jennifer, of Canton and Joseph Havasi and his wife, Lynn, of Niles; five great-grandchildren, Raegan, Jackson, Harrison, Megan and Joseph; a sister-in-law, Marge Conlin of Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Burckart was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Burckart, who died in infancy; and two brothers, William Conlin and Dr. Edward Conlin.

Friends may call one hour before the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday in the gathering room of St. Joseph Church, corner of E. State St and Case Ave., Sharon, Pa. Monsignor Salvatore P. Mitchell will serve as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hermitage.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shepherd Foundation, 1500 McKinley Ave. Niles 44446.
