HOWLAND — Zaughn Zerby Jones, 87, passed away at 6:53 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Zaughn was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Canton, the daughter of the late George and Katherine Whissler Zerby.
Moving from Canton, Zaughn was a homemaker. She was an active member at Howland Community Church where she attended. Zaughn was an avid golfer, enjoyed swimming, reading and poetry. She was very talented as an artist. For a short time she was employed by Ohio Bell where she worked in the office.
Zaughn is survived by her husband, Fred Jones, whom she married Dec. 4, 1945. Together they shared 62 years of marriage. She is also survived by her two sons, David (Patricia) Jones of Cortland and Douglas (Diane) Jones of Southington; two grandchildren, Karrie Ann and Shane Jones; one great-grandson, John Michael Cassitty; three step-grandchildren, Mindy Miranda, Holly Miranda and Scott Gadd; nieces, Marlene Wehl, who saw Zaughny as her mother and who was very dear to her, Geri (Larry) Null and Cindy (Gary) Davis; and nephews, Fred (Mary Ann) Jones, Tyrone Zerby and Vincent Zerby.
Zaughn was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris and Bernadine and two brothers, Paul and Glen.
Family will be receiving friends from 11 to 1 p.m. Monday at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. The Rev. Dr. Bryan Byrne will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Howland Township Cemetery.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Zaughn’s memory to the donor’s favorite charity.
