Turning subsidiary receives patent

YOUNGSTOWN — Turning Technologies LLC, a Youngstown Business Incubator tenant that’s a leader in audience response technology, announced Thursday that a subsidiary has received a patent for transmitter-controlled communications links.

Responsive Innovations LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Turning Tech Holdings LLC, received patent number 7,330,716 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent is for the the communication method used by Turning’s ResponseCard input devices, the company said.

ResponseCards integrate with Turning’s flagship software audience response application, TurningPoint. Turning expects the patent to be the first of a number of global patent applications approved for this innovation.

‘‘Our unique technical approach to student and audience response has provided our products with clear competitive advantages and contributed to our emergence as the world leader in our industry,” Turning Technologies chief executive Mike Broderick said. ‘‘To have the U.S. Patent Office recognize this invention and award this patent is great news for both our company and our customers.”
