Are you ready to vote Tuesday?

November 3, 2013

With no Ohio or Trumbull County-wide issues on Tuesday’s ballot and just one issue for all voters in Mahoning County, Election Day turnout is expected to be low....

I left my state ID at the free grocery distribution site while picking up my bags of groceries. I can't carry it all. I'm glad I don't need an ID to vote 3 or 4 times this election.

defeatsb5: Was the student feeling a tingle go down his leg listening to a left wing teacher.. many many years ago. You were not aware the teacher was reading from the NEA ragsheet.

How about the children school song that Fox made up (IN your mind only)

Barack Hussein Obama "mmm mmm mmm"

Did Fox make the story-IRS agents targeting conservative groups?

Obama illegally wiretapping Journalist incl AP

Of course Obama never publicly stated 'If you like your health plan, you can keep it PERIOD.

Or If you like your Doctor, you can keep him--Fox News reported it but the DEfeatsb5 doesn't accept it.

Hey, Jonathon! Don't take my word for it, or the word of Faux!

Go sit in on a class or two.

The social studies teachers I knew were right wingers by a more than 2-to-one ratio, and there are numerous anti-union teachers in the ranks of educators, so don't tell me kids are brain-washed to be liberals!

In fact, the only social studies teachers who gave any sort of balanced perspective at all were the so-called politically liberal ones, and they scrupulously kept their personal perspective out of it; the so-called conservative social studies teachers I knew were the most ideologically rigid, justifying their bias by claiming that "the left does it," so they were simply balancing things out.

Kind of like the Faux line.

They also believed in the righteousness of their cause, which justified any excess in the promulgation of their notion of "conservatism."

It was quite a thing to behold.

Good Lord Defeat you get funnier every time you post, "fresh out of government class" that's true most of their teachers are libs and union members, wonder what kind of influence these "fresh minds" have been infected with. And the major reason any of the young that voted for Obama simply thought he was cool, you and I both know that he had virtually NO EXPERIENCE, and the ONLY reason he was elected was, well you know.

Is anyone really surprised that the election turnout is going to be low, when just about every partisan race in the county features an unchallenged Democrat candidate. Heck, even that drunk driving councilman in Niles is assured of re-election!

Maybe the cities should learn from the townships and switch to non-partisan elections. This may force the Eloi who live there to put down their Obamahones and actually try to scrutinize their candidates, rather than blindly accept whoever the Democrat party anoints.

Then again, maybe the electorate accepts urban decline as an acceptable trade off for one party control that keeps the government freebies flowing.

Making voting a national holiday only gives WP another reason not to go to work. Going to the polls takes what, all of 10 minutes?

As far as discontinuing absentee ballots, obammy and holder did that by not accepting many overseas military ballots in his re-election.

ASnd, by the way -- why is it that poor people who vote their own self interest ar, somehow, stupid, but rich people who do that are smart?

How is that? I would say that ANYONE who votes against their own self-interest is, by definition, stupid.

In my opinion.

I know 60 year-olds who have no clue about how government works, so spare me the age-related pronouncements about who is or is not qualified. Most of the time, anyway, assertions about who is qualified to vote depend on HOW they vote, so that anyone who disagrees with me (or whoever) doesn't know how to vote.

16 and 18 year-olds have as much civics background as you or I do.

They're fresh out of government class and should be allowed to exercise their newly acquired knowledge.

They can't be any less qualified that the FauxNoise lemmings.

16 year olds are too stupid to vote, 18 year olds are too stupid to vote, prime example, OBAMA!!

Maybe we should take a page out of classical Athens and REQUIRE all citizens to vote.

And, lower the voting age to 16.

I agree voting should be a national holiday WP,,,,I also think early voting should be discontinued. Absentee ballots should only be for people who actually will be ABSENT election day.

Anyone can now call the BOE and request an absentee ballot be mailed to them. This is perfect for shut-ins, right? However, you still have to pay postage (which means a trip to the post office) to mail your ballot back in. That counters any benefits to those who are home-bound or otherwise unable to get out and vote. The absentee ballots should be able to be returned business reply mail, no postage necessary.

No, I have already voted. It's easier and more convenient to vote absentee ballot these days. America should make voting day a national holiday like every other democracy in the world.
