Exactly what part of that comment was offensive? At least one idiot has a tough time accepting truth, but you'll never silence it.

Maybe you should log on and confess to more crime. Too bad Mr. DiMaggio is cooperating along with the Tribune. By the time the thread was removed it was already too late, lol!

We know who you are now!

!!REMOVED FROM SITE!! Great, now we'll have the anti-Obama retards complaining they're now a target of Al-Qaida or some other baseless partisan hallucination.

It's time the media gets out of our National Security business. It can't be helping American interest & security to print every friggin move our military, Congress & Obama makes. To what strategical advantage is it to telegraph every military intention?

That's like boxing Mike Tyson after posting your fight plan as jab, right hand, left hook, circle & repeat! I feel safer if military just do it's duty, ask for Congressional approval in secret and let us know afterwards like in Pakistan...

This would be a great use for the Ravanna Arsenal. The personel working there will be either buying or renting places to live and spending money in the area. Some people are so short sighted and don't see the economic value of this.

Let's not get excited, Remember in 1992 President Bush 1 awarded 7,000 Defense jobs Youngstown-Warren. The site was on Belmont Ave in Liberty.

In fact, our was the First one chosen and Big Jim and the Cafaro company were extremely happy. Nothing could stop this project, only problem. Democrat Bubba Clinton won the election starting 1993 and immediately cancelled everything..The only reason he was elected is because Ross Perot Independent-took 19% of the vote.

You can't simply measure this potential project simply by how many people who live in the Valley will be directly employed by the project.

The economic benefits from the personnel who would be employed at Ravenna would carry over into the local businesses. Not that this project compares to San Antonio in scale, but look how their economy reaps the benefits of soldiers who are not permanent residents, but their money still spends the same. People need to stop being so short-sighted.

Sounds like it will be in a secure location. Where will the picketers stand?

With attitudes like these, I wouldn't blame the defense department for looking elsewhere where they would be more appreciated.

We cry when we don't get government projects and we cry when we do get the consideration.

Me thinks people in this area may well prefer to sit at their subsidized homes, talking on their obama phones, and eating Doritos purchased with food stamps, waiting for the steel mills to reopen before their 99 weeks of unemployment run out.

And b y t c h.

Who cares what it costs?

And it doesn't cost $40B to print $40B.

Seriously, just put these in orbit and knock them out above the countries launching them.

@Liberal It's true that the (GMD) destroy ratio is lower than other intercept systems, but don't forget that these interceptors are attempting to hit targets at a much higher altitude, and as the R&D improves, so will the kill ratio.

Also, 47% kill ratio is better than none at all! The system is going to be built, why not in here?

The platform is the Ground Based Midcourse Defense System (GMD). Designed to destroy long-range strategic ballistic missiles in the midcourse stage with ground based interceptors (while the incoming missile is still in orbit). This system would be vital in intercepting missiles that were on a course for the Midwest or Northeast (including New York and DC).

This would be a nice economic boon for the area, and since Sen. Leahy (D-VT) has already voiced his strong opposition of the system being built in Vermont, that likely leaves only 4 sites left that the DOD will choose from.

When you look at the state of Ohio, you'll notice that the Valley is the poorest part. It's about time the win by default Democrats at least get the area in consideration for some federal money/jobs.

This better mean jobs for area people in Trumbull County, not just lining the pockets of cronies like you, Ryan.

Interesting. I would have thought that these launch sites would be more effective on the coasts, but if the Pentagon thinks that they can work here, it could mean more jobs for the area. I just hope that it is an efficient use of cash rather than just another waste of spending.

Pentagon eyes Newton Falls for missile interceptor site

Forgive the Tribune for not including the words "missile interceptor"

Meaning either some here do not know what "Anti Missile" means or they don't give a darn about the defense of our Country.

why not just invade the countries with the ballistic missiles since they are a threat to our national security? I mean that was the case made for the last decade of war. Oh I know, because we only attack defenseless countries that hold oil or other exploitable resources. Nothing in those countries that corporate amerika wants.

Some of you people are complete idiots and your comments back it up. You idiots don't even know what these missiles do and why they are needed. I guarantee you had to google what they are before you commented.

What madness is this? The Cold War ended over 20 years ago. Are folks in the military industrial complex (which Ike warned us about over 50 years ago)planning a new hot one?
