sanctioned murder. They absolutely easily could have waited this old guy out, but why when you have a license to kill?

At 107 I'm thinkin he's probably pretty much incontinent, hardly able to walk or hold a gun or even stable for that matter. Let's think about this people this man was 107 years old. Have most of you seen a 107 year old person? Most are immobile, can hardly think, function, motor skills. I really find it hard to believe that they could NOT unarm a 107 year old man! That's rather pathetic considering that the police that shot him were more than likely 3/4 his age and couldn't unarm a shaky, most likely almost blind, most likely couldn't walk fast or run LOL, most likely hearing impaired, most likely had dementia, frail and weak, most likely could barely hold the gun to begin with at 107 years of age I'd imagine he's not Hercules. Yeah no other way out!

If this article has the facts correct, it seems to me that the police did what they could to try to do this without hurting him. It doesn't say if he suffered dementia or any other mental health issue, but a person shot by a confused or crazy person is just as injured or dead as someone shot by a sane person.

A 107 year old man and that's the best they can handle this situation is to kill him! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Had they waited about 20 minutes he'd of probably took a nap. L.MAO ...107 That's just shameful all around!

Then become a cop and you can make those decisions. You would be consumed by fear and the fear would be running down your leg.

MM, that has nothing to do with my argument, except the fact that we, as a compassionate society by nature give deference to the young. My point was that an adult, regardless of age, not only shot at officers thru a door, but when actually confronted, pointed a weapon at them. Knowing his already demonstrated behavior, they apparently had two options: wait for him to shoot and possibly kill one (or more) of them, or do what they are trained, and legally sanctioned to do. Fire at the offender, disable if possible or worst case scenario, kill him. It's the "him or me" event. What would you do?

Doubt the old man should've been living alone. I agree with the mental issue. Glad the other 2 people were unharmed. The officers sure did everything by the books before the shot.

Here come the bleeding hearts. Someone shoots at you don't discern their age (a child being the possible exception), you shoot back. I'm sure these officers preferred to go home that night to their families.

Wow, he lived to the age of 107 and he is killed in a standoff, I am sure he was mentally confused! Bless his Heart...
