"ODNR serves no purpose."

Really? Do you ever visit a state park? Do you ever enjoy boating on a lake? Do you ever go hunting of fishing? Do you ever enjoy state forests, go hiking on state lands?

Do you know many state parks generate major amounts of revenue?

Do you know thet the Division of Wildlife generates a lot of revenue, and so does the Division of Watercraft. Do you know ODNR employs thousands of people who pay taxes and buys homes on Ohio.

Do you know ODNRworks in cooperations with local governments, Army Corp of Engineers, local parks and recreational groups, to provide the communities with better and improved facilites such as parks, dams and wildlife areas?

"ODNR's sole source of operating revenue is generated from issuing gas/oil well drilling permits! "

Wrong Sir. Not all of ODNR has had any type of dedicated funding. Many divisions of ODNR took over 10% cuts in thier FY 14 budgets. Full time jobs are not being filled. Hours are being cut back from part time workers. Buildings are being removed to save on maintenance costs.

Some ODNR Divisions do have rvenue produced by other means, thier SOLE source is not drilling permits.

All Niles did was say "We don't want it in our city but we will sell you the water to do it in the Townships" Niles deserves no praise!

" ODNR is in bed with your industry "

And you have hard copy proof of that? ----------------------------------------------

ArticWolf, where have you been since Kasich took office? The ODNR's sole source of operating revenue is generated from issuing gas/oil well drilling permits! ODNR was spun off of the state funding to save money from the state budget. These drilling companies often, as is the case in this area, prep the necessary infrastructure, i.e. pads, roadways from county/twp roads to the pad, base prepping for water/waste reservoirs, etc... Virtually none of this is approved prior to the ODNR granting the permits, because they let the drilling companies do their jobs for them.

That's how huge wells, like the one in Lordstown, get drilled only a few hundred feet away from freshwater lakes and residential dwellings.
