So who said it was a sober house? Who gave it that name, distinction, or classification?

another case of a politician that doesnt think the law applies to them..we need to vote this guy out of office...so Letson ? you want to save the world from the drunks? You want to do it at this neighborhoods expense..Maybe if you did things legally you would get better results.. the people in that neighborhood pays their taxes...Do you ??

I don't blame them for wanting these types out of their neighborhood. While walking my dog this morning I ran into an old classmate- she had a clear case of meth mouth and explained how she lost custody of her three kids. I waited until she was out of sight to walk back to my home!

The difference here is that no one is allowed to stay in a SOBER house if they use.

So far the only issue I have heard is about zoning; nothing about druggies hanging out, nothing about break-ins or other crimes. It sounds like a lot of witch hunt/bad neighbors to me.

Did the city immediately shut it down like they did that "swinger's" joint on McMyler because they didn't have the proper zoning approval?

Guaranteed Letson knows exactly what's going on in the home, but he will pull the normal Democrat spin and say "I didn't know anything about it"

There are several differences between this and the Mission, but the biggest one is that the Mission requested a zoning change. These people just ignored the zoning. By the way, the last I heard, the Mission dropped their request.

This gets 1st page coverage because it's on the N/E side of town. The people are in an uproar because of the 'sober house'. Why didn't the people on the S/W side of town get the same coverage when they opposed the Warren Family Mission trying to change the zoning so they could move the mission into the old Christ Our King church on Tod Ave. No one wants this in there residential areas.

Tom Letson wouldn't return anyone's phone calls first of all. Second, this isn't a roommate situation. This is an unsupervised facility used as transitional housing for recovering addicts placed in a residential neighborhood. There are areas properly zoned for that type of facility and that neighborhood is not one of them. That is a high risk group of 8 adult males unsupervised placed there funded with insurance money. Once the insurance runs out the individual leaves and another addict is placed there. It simply is not safe, as well as brings down the property value of the surrounding homes. The neighboring homeowners have rights, too. That has nothing to do with democrat or republican, it's just common sense and the law.

So somebody renting a house isn't allowed to have roommates? Since when? I guess if somebody gives something a title that is what it is. What a waist of ink this article is.

I agree that the law has to be followed but I myself would rather see a sober living house than a drug house any day and in Warren every other house is a drug house it seems. I say lets get more sober living and every drug house that is shut down needs to have counselors as soon as the house is busted put in place to try and save our young people. I think that property values should go up with the community being proactive and offering a good environment for a person wanting help. A life style change is what it takes and if it is in my neighborhood I would welcome it with open arms promoting good behavior will only help this city and that is what is needed

The far right people have come out full bore in attacking Letson, because he is a democrat. I don't agree with what is happening with this property. All too often a home is rented out, and the home is used for a number of things other than what was intended. If so many knew who owned the property, why didn't they first say something to him. Just maybe he would of corrected it himself. But no, him being a Democrat it's much better to attack him in the papers. But I do hope he will correct this situation immediately, and evict the people who is actually renting the property. I know there is going to be some who disagree with my post, but this is just my opinion. All too often I see Democrat politicians attacked mercifully, by people of the far right. But it's not that way when a Republican does something wrong. Again it's just my opinion, and you have yours.

According the recorder's website, his tax lien was released in May of this year. Perhaps this is how he finally paid it off? I'm all for getting people the help they need, but it needs to be done legally. This looks like Letson is just making money off of his fellow addicts.

Letson was endorsed by the Dem. party abd elected to represent Warren and the area. Nice job. He has been in rehab. on our dime, didn't pay his taxes on time, now breaks the law on renting this house. What office will he run for next. What a joke.

Has Mr. Letson paid all the tax liens he owed or are we expected to look the other way on this too? Politicians and attorneys...gotta love 'em.

I hope Mr. Letson is made to follow the zoning regulations. Too often in Warren and Trumbull County everybody looks the other way(especially the voters)when a politician is found to be skirting the law.
