It doesn't matter that they took it down, the picture will just magically reappear in 3 days anyway.

I have never seen a historically accurate painting of Jesus in any school. That should be the real point of contention since the Hebrews of 2000 years ago were a darker wholly haired people. Bible even says feet of burnt brass with hair of lambs wool. I have never seen that painting anywhere, why?

Separation of church and State. Congress start their session with a prayer. You must swear to God to tell the truth in court. The Church are involve in Politic. This is a free Country, people have the right to their beliefs and to respect other peoples rights to their beliefs. If Jesus picture is in the schools they should let other religions put up theirs icons. Don't take away other peoples rights because they offend a small group of people. All this small group is doing is taking away everyones rights for their beliefs. This is not how it is in America

The point here is the constitution not the majority view. The Constitution PROHIBITS any Government entity from promoting a religion. If the argument is that Jesus was a historical figure of great influence then you would have to include other historical figures, Like Mohammed, that are great influences bon people. To suggest that Jesus IS the son of God automaticly disqualifies the portrait. This is VERY, VERY simple stuff folks. YOU as a citizen have the right to worship YOUR chosen Diety twenty four hours a day if you so choose. YOUR GOVERNMENT does not have the right to promote a religion for even one minute. A School Board IS a Local Governmental body. Therefore they MAY NOT continue to hang the picture. It is not a question of Freedom of , or freedom from, religion for the citizen but rather the total absence of a political religious preference by any part of the Government.

Here they go again! Once again the atheists and their militant religion on no-religion get their undies in a bunch. They have twisted Freedom OF Religion to be Freedom FROM Religion. One person stomps and pouts and acts insulted, and the rest of the country must cringe in horror. If they don't believe in religion, why are they so obsessed with it and always forcing their non-religious view on the majority? It's time we just ***** slap these butt wipes.

Well so is Mohammed the Prophet a historical figure that has influenced hundreds of millions of lives. Should there be a picture of him hanging in that school? If not why not?

Americans should refuse to let any more minority opinions dictate our core values and beliefs.

This portrait is of a legitimate historical figure who has had immense influence on all people's on earth.

Didn't hear one single statement regarding anyone forcing another person to accept any religious beliefs.

We cave in way too easily to the mis-interpretations of our First Amendment rights.

WHAT a monumental waste of taxpayer money. Why would this school board believe that they have the right to squander tax revenue attempting to defend such an obvious violation of the U.S. Constitution.
