!!REMOVED FROM SITE!! I wonder if the gun was run through a check to see if it is stolen, used in previous crime(s), or other unlawful connections? It appears that the WPD does do a good job in most of its interactions with the community, but perhaps the new chief may want to get his officers some training more related to the previous 10-15 years of criminal activity so that could be better prepared for today's criminal. The crimes of 90"s are not what crimes of today are. Today's criminals are without any remorse, empathy, guilt. Psychopaths for the most part. They couldn't pay me enough to be a police officer today. So those of you that want to be hyper critical of the department may want to go to the academy, get your certificate, and apply for the position. Start around $28,000/yr and deal with the criminals of today. Put your arze where your mouth is.

featherstone, starting officer salary is around $28,000/yr. Yes veteran officers make much more.

What idiot deleted my comment commending officers and telling the complainers to put up or shut up.

The WPD do an OUTSTANDING job, in spite of their manpower levels! Most are good, honest and hard working people.

Police departments can only do so much. It's this community of families that need to do a reality check to find out where their family values went..apparently down the tubes. Killings, drugs, guns, ...anger, hate, greed, addictions... Police departments can't change this stuff.

Agree NMC. But have to wonder how anybody would expect to carry a weapon into custody without EVENTUALLY getting caught, thankfully nobody was hurt.

Shocked Rueben Shaw is being investigated, thought of him as decent officer and person. Good family too.

28k starting salary as a W.P.D. officer Billdog? Better check your facts, what's that have to do with story anyways?

I think Warren police do a good job,but please get the drug dealers off the sw side,it slightly annoys me they go riding by thumping music while I try to sleep for another 12 or 14 hour workday. Someone has to work so they baby mama can get her stamps.

The Warren police dept. is taking a stance that shows they are on the up and up with the public. If there are infractions by its officers, they are a dressed. I personally think they are doing a great job considering, the amount of manpower they have. Sometimes there is more crime going on, than they have officers available to respond. Just hope they keep up the good work.

Any competent lawyer should be able to beat that gun charge. Unless of course the buddy testifies that they had such a weapon. These thugs are pretty dumb!

It seems to me that Warren is cleaning up their Police dept. Three officers fired and a fourth is on his way out too.

I don't understand your reasoning WP, correct me if I'm wrong but you claim the reason crime is so bad in Warren is because of incompetent officers.

I thought it was because of the poor misunderstood members of your community.

More training? You would think that the idea of what could have happened if he had decided to try to shoot his way out of the car would be training enough for everyone!

Mayor Franklin - you better cleanup YOUR police department now. It's no wonder crime activity is so bad in the city - incompetents. Fire them all!
