nativio289, you expect to much from some commenters on here. Your expectation is they think, well we all know many of them do not have that ability.

Marmel--- they are tearing down the blight.

How is that hiding it?

And just cuz they are democrats, does not make them "liberals". That little misnomer needs to end.

native i understand that i would not like it eaither. there are some nice houses where my parents live and they keep the grass mowed. what i get mad is at the ones who constantly bash the city of warren. I would buy a house in that neighborhood if I had the oppertunity. i love seeing people take care of their houses and seeing someone imporve thier house because that shows pride.

Wow...I'm glad they are finally doing this but this means this one on Williamsburg we have been complaining about since the Hoover administration will sit another 10 years. Roof is caving, garage roof caving, we cannot mow cause grass is probably up to my waist (i'm 5'1") there are things in the backyard like tv's. We need Jay Williams to take over Warren. He didn't give a frog's butt about the EPA....

I understand that, msmith... Warrenproud really needs to perhaps be a little more of a person on here and less of a broken record...

Though I'm not practicing what I preach with my anti-Mike Keys drumbeat...!

Beleive it when I see it. There are at least 8 on my half block on York Ave alone that have needed torn down for about a decade. They did one a couple months ago and stopped.

Native my point was this about wp in every comment they complain and that is all this person does. There has never been any positive comments that come from warren prouds mouth. They are proud to be from warren but they are the first ones to critize the city. In the house I grew up in did have asbestos and lead paint in it.

Last night, at a WNLC meeting that the Mayor, SSD and the dance instructor attended, it was agreed that the asbestos contracts were sent out last October.

Neither the mayor or the dance instructor would air what caused this delay...Eight months of lost time where this process could have been moving forward.

Seems that what happened was the capable person who was handling this left CD to go run Environmental Services and there was nobody left there to do this work.

This was a major failing inside CD and its director should be held accountable if it costs this city one vacant house demo.

Who are you, msmith?

Describe to me the scenario where this money would have been "recklessly" spent.

So...every other area that was spending the money back in late winter and spring was reckless?

Don't believe the hype...This delay was not the mayor's fault. It was the Community Development office.

All these old houses have asbestos in them. It is in the plaster, insulation and around pipes in many cases. I'm sure the dust from the prehistoric structures is just as bad, with rat and other rodent urine and poo is just as bad.

Complain complain complain that is all you do on every post you comment on. If he would have used the money quickly you would have said he was being reckless with the funds. At least the houses are being tore down. Is your life that miserable that all you can do is be negative?

Better late then never, but the Mayor Franklin administration sure did takes it good old time spending $1 million on demolitions. The city needs hope and change, and Mayor Franklin sure has shown he doesn't provide it with this program.
