I had a great time there this weekend. I'm glad that Warren has such a variety of culture and we're able to celebrate it ALL...

PS, thanks NoMoreCrap, You said it all.

There is such "white american" festivals AP, refer below to the comment about the Italian fest. That is a "white american" celebration isn't it?

Sure your answer will be, but they are Italians celebrating Italian heritage. Yes and the festival downtown says nothing about "black" it's called African. Which means folks with African heritage celebrating.

Certainly you're intelligent enough to see there is no difference here? The terms white & black are never used, it's heritage being celebrated not skin color...

You're welcome!

So if there was a White American festival why would it be controversial and perhaps called racist?

People can call themselves what ever they want.Perhaps because this weekends celebration is a celebration of African Heritage, calling it the African American Heritage Festival is appropriate.I doubt if many people call themselves that in every day life, but calling an AFRICAN AMERICAN festival AFRICAN AMERICAN is not too pretentious.

If you are born in the US you are an American. How about just Black American.

Let me answer that Earl, from the complexion of our skin it's obvious we have African ancestry. The need to make that known each time we're mentioned is a bit redundant. Calling me black is recognition enough of my African ancestry, just my opinion though.

You're absolutely correct solong, I'm sick of the extra time & space wasted writing or saying it. No such people exist, black or white is fine for me...
