The denial that anything is wrong, IS what is wrong with many older Americas.

Wait, isn't this the generation that raised the "me" generation? Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. I've had older people slam doors in my face rather than holding them open, speak rudely to me, cut me off in traffic...etc. Every generation has their issues. It's not an age thing but a human being thing. I'm sure my 85 year old grandma could make some comments about your generation just as I can about the ones coming up behind my generation X. Adults are the ones who set the examples for the children.

DefeatSBB5 says, "If you choose to suspect the motives of everyone, and look at the world through the eyes of a cynic, you will see the worst in everyone."

Hmmmm. Being more than a little hypocritical wouldn't you say?

I am sorry I am not going to show courtesy if you are the one who ran the red light and almost hit my door. I think after age 65 you should be retested every five years. Look at how many old people hit the gas instead of the brake. In Florida a 81 year old guy drove his car through a crowed and killed innocent people.

I think marine12 has it right, your generation couldn’t hold a candle to the greatest generation.

Courtesy out of driving yeah right. We just had an old lady almost hit us because she ran a red light. Then when we blew our horn she stopped in the middle of the intersection if that was not bad enough she was behind us going left to center. I think after a certain age you should have to retake your drivers test.

Yeah right Ruth, draft card burning; american flag burning; Selma, Alabama; Timothy Leary; Watergate; Gulf of Tonkin Incident; Drug, Sex, Rock and Roll; consumerism; We really passed down a great leegacy to the next generation.

Ruth, just what age group are you putting the blame on? Who did all of the terrible things which you decry, 20 year olds, 30, 40, 50?

Your generation caused air and water pollution. You didn't do anything about green house gases. You allowed raunchy TV and movies to flourish. You voted for Nixon and G. W. Bush. You accepted over processed foods, full of fat and sugar. You sent young men to Viet Nam and supported Nixon when students rallied against that war.

You got jobs because there was a job for everybody then. Now there are not enough jobs because your generation allowed our jobs to go to foreign countries.

Even in ancient Rome, adults criticized the younger generation. Our ancestors, in the middle 1800s, blamed the younger generation for what they were doing.

You are, unsuccessfully, trying to pass the buck. Your generation was far from perfect & certainly not blameless.

'the people of the the mahoning valley are too dumb to decide if they want horseracing, where in their community to put it, how big it should be and get this one, how many seats it should have'

motsttaw you are no longer allowed to comment on this subject because you have no facts. The dispute is between the Ohio State Racing Commission and the race track builders.

The site has been bought, all local permits obtained and has been cleared.

You need another source for your information. Makes me think all your other opinions are questionable.

"You shame us, Ruth"

DefeatSBB5, NO SIR.You do. Ruth speaks the truth. I will agree not all young generations are bad, but the majority do not care about history, or what those before them did for thier generation.

"sense of entitlement simply because they'd managed to reach a certain age "

Your DARN right. Why? Because they worked thier arses off to get there. This kids now do not want to work, and think the world OWES them for being here.

ohcwby, you are a libertarian. Congratulations. It is conservative with a let 'em live attitude. When it comes to gay or abortion, if it doesn't apply to them, then why would others weigh in? It's not the government's business either and they just leverage these issues to get votes anyway and people are stupid enough to vote on these issues. War on women and all these manufactured crisis - get a brain. (rhetorically speaking)
